Simba Sports Club, the affluent team of the Tanzanian Premier League, will host Al Ahly at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals this Friday.

Simba enters the match with high spirits after securing a comfortable 2-0 victory over Mashujaa in their domestic league two weeks ago. Clatous Chama’s brace in the second half propelled them to victory, providing a morale boost for the upcoming fixture.

On the flip side, Al Ahly suffered a 4-3 defeat to National Bank in the Egyptian Premier League just before the international break. Despite goals from Anthony Modeste, Reda Slim, and Hussein El Shahat, Al Ahly couldn’t salvage any points.

Having topped Group D, the Egyptian champions are now focusing on continental success. Simba, on the other hand, advanced to the quarterfinals as runners-up in Group B. The winner of this clash will proceed to face TP Mazembe or Petro in the semifinals.
